There are several video clips that tell a story about Air Cav without actually being real:

Some Cav guys might think these clips look like some of the Missions Briefings they have to sit through.

The point of these clips is that confusion can exist in any communication.

Confusion is not good for the Cav or the Air Cav, or any other military unit that is in combat. Warfare itself is very often chaotic so even the slightest confusion can lead to mistakes, and mistakes can result in vary bad things happening.

The next clip refers to a story frequently told in Flight School, although its lessons apply to numerous situations encountered by Air Cav. Perhaps you might know someone for whom this would be appropriate.

It quite aptly illustrates two of the most famous sayings of Air Cav pilots the world over:

  • That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

  • It is easier to beg forgiveness than to ask for permission
As one who has served many years in Air Cav units, I can say without hesitation that these two lines have been used countless times.

Maybe things are different now in the age of computers, GPS, Night Vision and unparalleled lethality in weaponry.

Somehow, I have my doubts and suspect that these lines are still used frequently.

If you can't get a clearance Clarence, or a vectors Victor,

You might just as well be a grunt.
