Cavalry dates back to the earliest times of humans on horses. Once men realized the potential of riding across the countryside and being able to influence situations far from their own home, they created groups who would ride together under a common theme.

Cavalry has rich history

Cavalry was born.

Ghengis Khan was probably the first great leader of the Cavalry concept. Although there have been many refinements in tactics since his day, it would be difficult to dispute the early success.

To gain some appreciation of Cav history, the following video clips and external links are provided.

The clip above indicates to me that there might be a certain genetic abnormality that leads people into the Cav. The question might be posed whether a person can be trained to be Cav, or whether they are born Cav.

My contention would be some humans have certain Cav traits that are more developed when actually assigned to Cav units.

My National Guard unit had that First Cobra in RVN many years later. It might still be flying with the Israelis.
The story is that it was one a test flight and called out for a real mission even before it was released for combat.
If you ever see an old Cobra with a small figure wearing a Chinese hat painted on the tail, that could be the first AH-1 kill.
